David C. Bossard

Fairmont, W.Va . - David C. Bossard, 56, of Fairmont, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on October 14, 1952, a son of the late G. Earl and Margaret K. Pyatt Bossard.

He is survived by his fiancee, Vicki Mueller; a brother, Earl G. Bossard and his wife, Carla, of Davis, Calif.; two sisters, Carole Haubner and her husband, Frank, Hartland, Wis.; and Mary Burdick and her husband, Grant, Frederic, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

David received his Masters Degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in Public Affairs. He was a Deputy Sheriff in Asheville for 20 years, and was currently an instructor in Training and Systems Education for the FBI, where he had worked since 1996.

He was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan, and had a keen interest in polar bears and brown grizzly bears, taking various trips to Canada and Alaska. He was an avid and accomplished photographer, and he and Vicki enjoyed taking cruise vacations. He had also been a volunteer firefighter in Buncombe County, N.C. He will be remembered for his dry humor and quick wit.

As David was a giving person and a CORE organ donor participant, the family encourages memorial contributions in David's memory be made to American Heart Association, the Breast Cancer Society, or the Humane Society.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon Saturday at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, where a celebration of David's life will be held at Noon, with the Rev. George V. Bramble presiding.
