The word “audit” can provoke trepidation in anyone, which can make a Department of Justice (DOJ) audit a nerve-wracking experience. Fortunately, the DOJ Audit team not only conducts the audits, they also host training to help agencies be ready when it is their turn for an audit.

The computer alerts, the notification comes through, it’s a 10-minute hit, your heart rate increases because if you know if don’t respond, the state will be on the phone…….Those same 10 minutes look very different out in the field. Yes, they are the same 10 minutes, but when an officer or deputy is face to face with someone they’re detaining, 10 minutes can feel like an eternity.

Entering a record and making sure to pack it with as much data as possible serves the same purpose as looking up packing hacks before travel. 

Packing a record means putting as much information as possible into the entry of a stolen vehicle, a piece of found property, a missing person, a wanted person, etc.
